Lady Pirates Lee, Garrett, Sherman and Cornelison to continue in track, softball and volleyball after signing letters of intent

Four Vidor Lady Pirates signed their letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic endeavors on Wednesday. Rylee Sherman has committed to play volleyball at Lasell University in Massachusetts. Jaden Lee has committed to the track and field program at Lamar University.

Lady Pirate soccer defeats Lady Bears and Cardinals

After defeating the LCM Lady Bears 6-2 Tuesday at home the Vidor Lady Pirate soccer team traveled to Bridge City Friday and handed the Lady Cardinals a 7-1 loss.

Lady Pirates close out basketball season with loss to BC

The Vidor Lady Pirates closed out the 2023 basketball season with losses to LCM and Bridge City. Hosting the Lady Bears Tuesday, the Lady Pirates remained competitive until late when missed opportunities and fouls resulted in a 54-40 loss.

Varsity girls basketball lost to West Orange Stark 34 - 17 Tuesday. Leading the Lady Pirates were Madison Powell with 6 points and 6 rebounds, Mia Robin scored 4 points, with 4 rebounds, Raegan Stephenson scored 4 points, with 3 rebounds. Friday, Jan 27th, Varsity lost to Silsbee, 83 - 43.

Lady Pirate soccer opens district play with 9-0 win over Silsbee

Soccer season is underway in earnest with district play kicking off last week. Recently released state rankings have Vidor ranked #11 in 4A. “Lady Pirate Soccer had a great night last night (Tuesday) with the JV team taking on the PNG Lady Indians in a non-district matchup.

Mustangs edge Pirates 67-64

The Vidor Pirates played cross county rivals West Orange Stark last week and got off to a good start, leading 22-9 after one period and enjoying a 41-24 lead at the half. The third period was a different story though with the Mustangs scoring 30 points to the Pirates’ 10 to snatch the lead 54-51.

Senate to open budget hearings next week

Monday, January 30th, will mark the first of many public hearings on the state budget, as lawmakers try and decide how to allot a record amount of surplus cash and projected revenue.

The Vidor Lady Pirates battled the Lady Dawgs of Jasper Friday in a district match that saw Vidor take an early lead, fall behind, then battle back twice before eventually coming up short 69-52.
