Vidor runners advance to Regionals

The District 22-4A Cross Country district meet was held Thursday at Claiborne West Park with the Vidor boys team finishing fourth of seven schools competing. Four Vidor runners qualified for Regionals including Vidor boys team members Kai Reed, who finished 4th out of 46 runners with a time of 17.21.00 and Andrew Fawcett, who finished 9th with a time of 18.39.40.

The 20-21 high school swim season has begun and the VHS Swim Team is looking to win their 13th District Championship this year The Pirate Swimmers are led by their 3rd year Head Coach Brian Stampley, and Asst. Coach Krista Powell as well as senior captains, Blaise Droptini and Emma Hutson. The Pirates enter the season with the largest team in the history of the program and return 16 swimmers from last year’s championship team including 8 seniors. Huffman Falcons top Vidor Pirates 15-13

The Vidor Pirates lost at home to the Huffman Hargrave Falcons 15-13 Friday with special teams and referees playing an outsized role again this week. After swapping possessions to start the game, the Pirates took the remaining half of the first quarter to mount a 13 play, 49-yard scoring drive that was capped by a 4-yard run by Trenton Conn to give the Pirates a 6-0 lead after a failed two-point conversion attempt with less than a minute remaining in the quarter.

LU Mourns Loss of Legendary Coach

Legendary basketball coach, and former Lamar University head coach and Director of Athletics, Billy Tubbs, passed away Sunday morning. A Cardinal Hall of Honor member, Tubbs coached the Red and White from 1976-80 and 2003-06.

Lady Pirates’ Volleyball season ends at bi-district

After reaching the playoffs for only the second time in school history, the Lady Pirates Volleyball season ended Thursday with a bi-district loss to Huffman. The Lady Pirates finished the regular season in a third place tie with the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears.

Pirate junior varsity dominates Lions 28-0

The Vidor Pirate football junior varsity dominated the Livingston Lions 28-0 Thursday at Pirate Stadium. After a scoreless first quarter, the Pirates put together a 90-yard drive for a Ricky Gall touchdown with 7:02 on the clock.

Fall in love with foliage at a Texas state park

With the temperatures starting to cool down around the state, Texans are heading outside to see the magical shades of red, orange and yellow leaves ushering in the fall season. Texas State Parks offer an outdoor escape to all who want to take in the changing of the foliage while still maintaining a safe social distance.

Pirates fall 21-7 on road trip to Livingston

The Livingston Lions’ home field advantage was too much to overcome for the Vidor Pirates as they dropped their second district game of the season. The Lions took the opening kickoff and drove to the Pirate 29 before the Pirates defense stiffened and forced a punt on 4th and 12.

VHS volleyball qualifies for playoff spot

The Vidor High School volleyball team has qualified for a playoff spot for only the second time in school history, the first was in 2018 and Coach Melissa Story was at the helm both times. As regular season competition enters the final week, district standings with remaining opponents are: Bridge City 10-1 (WOS, @LCM) Lumberton 9-2 (Bye, at WOS) Vidor 6-4 (at OF, Silsbee) LCM 6-4 (Silsbee, BC) Orangefield 4-7 (Vidor, Bye) Silsbee 2-7 (at LCM, at Vidor) WOS 0-10 (at BC, Lumberton).
