Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center Grand Re-Opening Slated for July 1

ATHENS – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center (TFFC) will welcome the public back July 1 for its grand re-opening following major renovations.

Vidor seeking O-Line, head softball coach

The Vidor Pirates football program is seeking an offensive lineman coach, a critical position in Vidor’s run heavy Slot-T offense and a head softball coach after the departure of Kellyn Robertson to Buna to join her husband there as they await the birth of their first child.

Summer programs prepare for fall

There is a lot of activity at the Vidor High School for junior high through high school with strength, skills and conditioning activities going on at the gym, fields and weight rooms.

VHS grads Caden Williamson and Braden Norton win state championship

Recent VHS graduates Caden Williamson and Braden Norton have been named the 2025 Texas BASS Nation STATE CHAMPIONS.These young men will now advance to National competition.Both graduated with honors this year while quadruple qualifying for the largest bass fishing stage in America.

Summer workouts

Even though school is out for the summer, there is still lots of activity going on besides maintenance and repairs with a full slate of activities for VISD students. Basketball, football, and volleyball activities are going on throughout June to practice skills and exercises to keep in shape.
