It was never close as the Lady Pirates clobbered the Kelly Lady Dawgs 51-21 at Pirate Gym Tuesday night. The Lady Pirates first quarter onslaught saw them pile on the points to lead 20-3 after one quarter.

Pirates, Lady Pirates fall in Friday games

Friday the 13th came a week late for the VHS basketball program as both the boys and girls teams fell to their opponents in their end of the week games. The Lady Pirates traveled to Deweyville where they were defeated by a score of 55-33.

Pirates open season with 52-46 win over Kelly

The varsity Vidor Pirate basketball team opened their season at home with a 52-46 win over Beaumont Kelly Tuesday night. A big second quarter erased the Pirates slow start and gave them a lead they never relinquished.

Pirates’ season ends with 29-13 playoff loss

The Vidor Pirates knew they would have to play their best ball control offense to keep the No. 10 ranked 4A Division II Lindale Eagles’ potent offense in check during Thursday night’s playoff game in Carthage. The Eagles were on a six game winning streak and were averaging more than 40 points per game.

Lady Pirates earn All-District volleyball honors

The record-setting 2020 Vidor Lady Pirate volleyball team continues to add to their honors with five Lady Pirates earning District 22-4A All-District honors. Brooklyn Healy-1st Team Utility Player of the Year; Skyler Head-1st Team; Brooklyn Bushelle-2nd Team; Ashleigh Sherman and Claire Villadsen, Honorable Mention.

Reed qualifies for state meet

Vidor junior Kai Reed qualified for the 4A State Track Meet to be held in Round Rock November 24 with his 10th place finish at the Regional Cross Country Meet held Tuesday in Huntsville. Reed clocked 16:55 to qualify. Joining Reed at the State Meet are three other Orange County runners. Bridge City senior Caden Shaw with his second place time of 16:29, and Orangefield junior Payton Wrinkle was sixth with a time of 16:45.

LCM Sophomore wins spot in State Race

Annabelle Fisher, Little Cypress-Mauriceville sophomore, placed Seventh at the Cross Country Regional Meet today, earning a spot in the State meet. The Lady Bears Cross Country Team, Second in District also participated in the Regional meet in Huntsville today.

Follow Your Nose Two Houston County game wardens were patrolling the northwestern end of Houston County when they entered a tract of land and saw an open field with what first appeared to be dove blinds close to a tripod feeder. One of the wardens crossed the field to check the feeder and as he got closer to the “blinds” he smelled a strong odor of marijuana.
