“Betty” Josephine Elizabeth Anniboli Sheppard

Betty Sheppard was born December 4, 1929 in Pt. Arthur, Texas, and left this world on December 1, 2018.

Betty grew up in Pt. Arthur, Texas where she graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1940. She graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Betty had a lifelong love of reading and writing, had two of her short stories published and she worked as a book reviewer for the Beaumont Enterprise.

Betty was a member of the Daughters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was active in VFW activities during World War II. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Vidor, Texas for 56 years, where she taught Sunday School for 10 years and was instrumental in starting the St. Joseph Alter celebration there.

Betty was known for her cooking. She often cared for family and friends when they were ill.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Emilio Anniboli of Manciano, Italy and Lucille (Lucy) Cuccia.

Andrew “Andy” Lee Kornegay Jr.

Andrew “Andy” Lee Kornegay Jr., 63, of Vidor, TX died at his home surrounded by his family.

A native of Tallahassee, FL he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Andy served his country in the U.S. Army and was a retired truck driver. In his spare time he enjoyed barbecuing with his cook-off team and drinking coffee with friends but he really enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Andy was known to help anyone who needed it.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 6, 2018 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Friday, December 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont.

Lloyd Bergeron Williams

Lloyd B. Williams, 73 of Vidor died Monday, December 3, 2018 at his residence.

A native of Orange, he was a longtime resident of Vidor and worked at Bethlehem Steel as a carpenter for 20 years. He graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology with a Machinist degree.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A graveside service for interment of cremains will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2018 at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

He is survived by his son, David Williams of Lumberton; daughter, Catina Reddoch Vidor; brother, Harry Bergeron of Marrero, LA; brother-in-law Robert Cady Jr. of Vidor; and three grandchildren.

Robert “Bob” Edward Bellefleur

Bob Bellefleur, 66 of Vidor died Friday, November 23, 2018 at his residence.

A native of New London, CT, he was a longtime resident of Vidor and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor.

He was survived by his daughter, Alicia Davis of Vidor; sisters, Jan Almeida of Waterford, CT, Linda Pafias of Marco Island, FL, Carol Hayward of Stratford, NY and two grandchildren.

Freddie Marie Gilland

Freddie Marie Gilland, 86, of Vidor died Friday, November 30, 2018 at her residence.

She was a native of Starks, LA, and was a homemaker all of her life.

A graveside service was held at Hyatt Cemetery in Fields, LA, on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Services were entrusted to Hixson Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy.

She is survived by her sons, Roger Gilland of Vidor, Thomas Gilland of Mississippi; daughters, Latricia Mabry of Vidor, Letha Trahan of Groves; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Barbara Ann Hopson Brockmann

Barbara Brockmann, 76, of Fletcher, North Carolina passed away in her home on Friday, November 16, 2018. Barbara was a Henderson County Head Start teacher and an ESL teacher at Hendersonville H. S. and Blue Ridge Community College in North Carolina. Barbara was a native of Vidor, Texas. She sold photography at mountain craft fairs and at the Curb Market in Hendersonville North Carolina. Barbara loved long drives in the mountains and sitting by babbling streams. She loathed injustice, bigotry, and inequality and fought to right the wrongs of the world where she saw them. Most of all she loved being a mom.

She is survived by her sons, Damien and his partner, Lorrayne, of Austin, and Derek and his husband, Frank, of Greer, South Carolina; she is also survived by her little dog, Ozzie.

Johnnie Jean Grice

Johnnie J. Grice, 76 of Labanon, TN died Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Tristar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage, TN.

A native of Deerbourne, MI, she was a Vidor resident for 15 years before moving to Tennessee.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

She is survived by her husband, Gary Grice; daughters, Tina Fisher of Monument, CO, and Terry Talley of Mauriceville; brother, Joey Marshall of Louisiana and two grandchildren.

Alpha “Mozelle” (Freeman) Broussard

Alpha “Mozelle” (Freeman) Broussard, 93, died Sunday, November 25, 2018.

A native of Silsbee, she was the owner of the 73 Restaurant and Club in Winnie.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Horn Motl of Fannett; Patsy Horn LeBlanc of Winnie; Donald Horn of Vidor; and Lisa Bourque Simon of Winnie; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; four step-children, Louis Bourque, Jr. of Hamshire, Margie Howard of North Carolina, Nell Broussard of Houston, and Mary Louise Fruge-Medford of San Antonio; and brother, Bradford Freeman of Nederland.

Her funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2018, at Broussard’s, Winnie. Her graveside service followed at 2:00 p.m., at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.

James Thomas (JT) Simmons

James (JT or Tom) Thomas Simmons 76 of Vidor, Texas and St. Ignace, Michigan died after a long illness on November 16, 2018.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon and her children Jason Dupree and Robin Gilmore, his children, son James Simmons and daughter Christy Huntzberry, sisters Bonnie Simmons Butts and Brenda Simmons Knight, brother Sherman Simmons, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
