George Robert Thomas

George Robert Thomas, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on March 15, 2019, at the age of 80, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. George was born in Gist, Texas (Orange County). Moving to north Vidor as a young child, he grew up working on his family’s dairy farm. George was an outstanding football player at Vidor High School where he graduated in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard from 1961-1965. While in service, in October of 1962, he accompanied his unit to Florida to stand in alert during the Cuban Missile Crisis. On October 1, 1965, George married Geraldine Brassieur of Beaumont. They remained a loving couple for 48 years until Geri’s death in 2013. George worked hard during his life, but found time to enjoy cooking for family holidays, and relaxing on summer family vacations to Galveston. For many years, George was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidor where he often served as usher.

JOYCE B. JENKINS

Joyce B. Jenkins, 92, of Vidor, TX died Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 at Silsbee Oaks Nursing Home. A native of Turkey Creek, LA she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Joyce loved gardening and working with flowers. She also enjoyed going fishing, quilting, and crocheting but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Joyce is survived by 3 daughters; Dixie Langston and her husband Frankie of Vidor, Cindy Lambright and her husband Ottis Jr.of Kirbyville, TX and Becky Herline and her husband Neil of Brookeland, TX, 3 sons; Carl Jenkins and his wife Enid of Vidor, and Willie Jenkins and his wife Rachel of Humble, TX, and Jerry Fowle and his wife Karen of Hemphill, TX.

Donnie Lee Will Jr. “Pop Pop”

Donnie was born on January 31st, 1972 in Orange, TX and passed March 16th, 2019 in Fort Worth, TX. He was surrounded by friends and family at his time of passing.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm.

Donnie was born in Orange TX and lived in Deweyville TX until he was 17, at which time he moved to Vidor TX where that remained his primary residence.

He is survived by his parents, Daniel and Nancy Sprinkle, his wife Sheree Will, four children, Jordan Will, Jasen Will, Haley Will, and Jonathon Vigeon as well as one grandchild, Sean Durham, Jr. He also had three brothers, Chad Will, Corey Green and Travis Green. Four sisters Wanda Green Lambright, Cindy Green Myers, Melissa Lozano and Kristie Temples. Also, 10 nieces and 16 nephews.

Micheal Ray Simmons, Sr.

Micheal Ray Simmons, Sr., 70, of Vidor, TX died Friday, March 15th, 2019 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont, TX. He was a 1966 graduate of Vidor High School were he was first chair trumpet player for the band and also a baseball player for the school. In 1975 he coached Little League baseball for the Cubs which his son Micheal played on. Mike liked playing the guitar but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and loved his cat “Candy”.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Louis “Lou” Edward Elstner, Jr.

Louis “Lou” Edward Elstner, Jr., 80, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on March 13, 2019, in Beaumont, Texas.

Born on March 18, 1938, he was the son of Louis Edward Elstner, Sr. and Marie Elstner. Lou worked as a Master Electrician for Brown and Root. He loved animals and his 3 dogs were his babies. Lou will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Marie Elstner; his siblings; and his best bud, Lynda Matte.

A private burial will take place at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston under the direction of Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home.

VENUS NICHOLS

Venus Nichols, 52 of Vidor died Sunday, March 17th, 2019 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas. A native of Beaumont, she was a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas. Venus enjoyed painting and flowers. She was an animal lover and loved being around children. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 22, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home. Venus is survived by her husband of 18 years Benjamin Nichols of Vidor, TX, daughter Kasi Risinger and son Rowdy Jace Risinger both of Orange, TX, sister Shelia Suire of Orange, TX and Cheri Courts of Vidor, TX, brother Glen Robinson of Vidor, TX.

JOHN CECIL DORMAN

John Cecil “Big John” Dorman, 75, died Monday, March 11, 2019, at his home in Orange. He was born on June 26, 1943, in Orange to Myrtle Sanner and Allen Dorman. He married Judy Stanfield in Orange on Dec. 2, 1966. He was a Boilermaker out of Local #587 and worked at American Bridge and on construction as a chipper. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Judy Stanfield Dorman; daughter, Cristal Lynell of Beaumont; daughter Billie Dorman, of Orange; granddaughter, Mackenzie Lynell Fertitta; and numerous nieces, nephews and more.

Visitation was 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at Dorman Funeral Home in Orange. The Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Hartburg Baptist Church in Hartburg. Graveside service was held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Bridge City following the funeral.

HELEN C. ERWIN

Helen C. Erwin, 87 of Vidor died Monday, March 4th, 2019 at her residence. A native of Bethlehem, TX, she was a longtime resident of Vidor. Helen was a member of River of Life Church in Vidor and was a devoted member. She enjoyed plants and flowers, she also enjoyed poetry especially by Helen Stein Rice. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, March 8, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Helen was preceded in death by her Parents Wesley and Lorene Shaw, husband Dalton Erwin, son Ronnie Erwin, brother Audry Shaw, 1 grandson and 1 great granddaughter. She is survived by her sons Rickey Erwin and his wife Shirley of Vidor, TX, Johnny Erwin and his wife Brenda of Brodhead, KY, brothers Fred Shaw of Ft.

Frank Robert Campise Sr.

Frank R. Campise, 74 of Vidor died Sunday, March 10th, 2019 at his residence. A native of Beaumont, TX, he was a lifelong Vidor resident. Frank was retired from Huntsman Refinery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Bobbie Campise. He is survived by his son Frank Campise Jr. and his wife Molly, daughter Michelle Harris and her husband Mark, sister Josephine Seals and brother James Campise all of Vidor, TX, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
