The Vidor Lady Pirates went 4-1 at the Evadale Tournament over the weekend to claim 3rd place in the Gold Bracket.The Lady Pirates had wins over Evadale, Buna JV, and Kirbyville and a loss to Brookeland before defeating Evadale a second time to clinch third at the tournament.

“We finished 3rd!,” said VHS Boys Basketball Head Coach Joseph Hoyt following the Nederland Tournament.We beat Sabine pass 72-30, beat PNG 57-54, lost to Willis 72-70 in the semi final and beat Nederland 55-40 in the 3rd place game.”Tuesday’s game scheduled at Sabine Pass was cancelled.

Pirates top Evadale and Anahuac

The varsity Vidor Pirates defeated both Evadale and Anahuac and over the Thanksgiving break to get back in the win column after their loss to Port Arthur Memorial.Traveling to Evadale Monday, the Pirates claimed a 64-54 over the Rebels and hosted Anahuac Tuesday, winning 75-38.

Lumberton sweeps Lady Pirates to open district play

Girls basketball opened district play Tuesday night with the Lady Pirates hosting the Lumberton Lady Raiders. Both junior varsity and varsity teams were defeated by the Raiders with junior varsity falling by a score of 36-17 and varsity by a score of 62-42.

Pirates suffer first loss of season

The Vidor Pirates took their first loss of the season Friday when they hosted the Port Arthur Memorial Titans at Pirate Gym.Vidor led 20-12 after one and tied 30-30 at the half, but the second half saw the tide turn with a 42-44 advantage for the Titans as the final quarter began.
