Robert Edward Hankamer, 82, of Georgetown, Texas peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, November 19th, 2020 after a prolonged illness. Bob was born May 24th, 1938 in Liberty, Texas to John William Hankamer and Bonita Henrietta Hankamer. Attending school

in the Texas Golden Triangle, he graduated from Vidor High School in 1956 and entered Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas on a football scholarship. Bob joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. After active duty, he met and married Doris Helen Birdwell on November 24th, 1960.

Several years later, Bob and Doris along with their two young sons, Chet Edward and Robert Ty, moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico. It was 1966 and Bob worked for the Ponce Commonwealth Oil Company. During their stay in Puerto Rico, the family was part of a small Southern Baptist group that helped build a mission church for area Puerto Ricans and residing Americans who worked in the area.

Returning to Texas in 1970, Bob joined the start-up team of Mobil Chemical in Temple. In 1979, Bob completed his Business Administration Degree at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and upon his retirement in 1998, Bob was Mobil Corporation’s South West Region Recycle Representative. Bob Was also a 32nd Degree Mason.

Known as “PaPa”, Bob enjoyed watching, cheering, and encouraging his grandchildren as they participated in baseball, basketball, tennis, golf tournaments, and swimming events. He was especially proud of all their academic accomplishments; saving and clipping notices to send to relatives and friends.

Bob and Doris would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on November 24, 2020. They are members of Crestview Baptist Church, Georgetown, Texas.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a brother, John William Hankamer.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Hankamer; their sons, Chet Edward Hankamer and wife, Karen of Salado, Texas and Robert Ty Hankamer and wife, Eldri of Temple, Texas; grandchildren: Colt Edward Hankamer of San Diego, California, Shea Lynn Stokesbary and her husband, Chris of Richmond, Virginia, Dane Michael Hankamer of Arlington, Virginia, Dalton Ty Hankamer of San Marcos, Texas, and Dallas Robert Hankamer of Temple, Texas; two step grandchildren, Caden and Carly Marshall of Temple, Texas; sister, Nancy Sue Aycock of Orange, Texas; and three sisters-in-law: Joyce Hankamer of Sour Lake, Texas,

Wyvonne Willoughby of Longview, Texas and Deana Howell of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Crestview Baptist Church, Georgetown, Texas designated to “Missions”. This outreach supports local ministries and worldwide missions.

The Hankamer’s would like to acknowledge: the proficient care of Dr. Marilyn Clark of Scott and White Temple, the recent professional care of Dr. Olga V. Szalasny of Scott and White Round Rock, and the benevolent services of Scott and White Hospice. Also, we appreciate the support and guidance of Ramsey Funeral Home, Georgetown, Texas.

A family graveside service will be held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. Military Honors will be rendered by the United State Army.
