Mattie “Laverne” Cooksley, 89, of Vidor died on February 10th, at Oakwood Manor Nursing Facility following a lengthy illness. A longtime resident of Vidor, she owned and operated Main Street Cleaners in Vidor for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years R.W. “Bob” Cooksley, her parents Ora and Varona Ennis, three brothers James “ Boots” Ennis, Roy “Dutch” Ennis, and Hoyle “Buddy” Ennis, four sisters Charlsie “Nell” Wriser, Helen Pinter, Lamerle Askew, and Betty Hutson.

She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Smith and her husband Robert of Frisco, TX, Barbara Campbell and her husband Roy of Vidor, Carolyn Bridges of Vidor, two sons Robert Cooksley, Jr. his wife Janet of Forney, TX, and Michael Cooksley and his wife Dorothy of LaPorte, TX along with eight grandchildren: Amy Sedatole, Theresa Helgren, Brent Bradford, Allison Cooksley, Cortney Pennington, Erin Weece, Christi McGuire, Kario Odette, and fifteen great grandchildren: Cody and Blake Sedatole, Jackson Helgren, Kyler Bradford, Ethan, Liam, and Mattie Jones, Piper and Hunter Weece, Camrynn, Callie, and Carter McGuire, Taylor, Easton, and Kynleigh Odette.

Due to Covid 19, a private service is planned for her immediate family. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
