Mary Newmann, 93, a Vidor resident since 1967 passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, TX. Mary was born in Amory, MS and spent her childhood growing up in Nettleton and Shannon, MS. Her lifetime occupation was that of a registered nurse and retired in 1996 from the profession. She graduated from Greenwood Leflore Hospital Nursing program in 1950 and worked as a registered nurse at various hospitals in her early career and eventually retired after sixteen years from Beaumont Medical Surgical Hospital.
Mary loved to spend time with all her friends and relatives. She had a fondness for baking cakes, pies, and sweets to share with her friends over coffee. Her favorite pastimes were crocheting, knitting, and reading.
Mary is survived by her son Albert (wife Judy), sister Juanita Davis, grandsons; Darrick Newmann and Stephen Newmann, along with six great granddaughters and grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Lee and son Joseph (survived by wife Roxane).
A celebration of life for her will be held on January 25th at the Acres in Vidor.
