Lawrence “Doc” Wayne Simmons, 61, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after a long battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Vidor, Doc was known for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need rather it be the shirt off his back or the last dime in his pocket. Doc is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Mary Simmons, and their three children: Krysten Simmons, Lauren Little, and Jonathan Simmons, all of Vidor. He also leaves behind his siblings, Billy Simmons of Vidor, Sue Colvin of Orange, Texas, Theresa Richard of Vidor, Annie Harder of Vidor, and Paula Simmons of Porter, Texas. Doc was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren, with one more on the way, as well as four great-grandchildren.
