Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday February 5th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral Service will be on Saturday February 6th at 10:00 am at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with Interment to follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Vidor. Born April 10,1939 in Conroe, Texas to Johnny Calhoun Strange and Mollie Angelina Acker Strange. As a child, LaVerne’s family moved all over, with her father working on pipelines and LaVerne developed her love of travel. LaVerne graduated from Vidor High School and spent most of her adult life in Vidor. LaVerne married Raymond Donnis Williamson and together had three children. LaVerne was mostly a homemaker and loved to cook for her family, friends and benefits for others in need. She was known by her family as the Best Cook Ever. LaVerne was loved by everyone that knew her. She was skilled at making things by crochet & sewing. LaVerne and Donnis made a good fishing team and supplied many catfish dinners with family and friends. LaVerne loved to dance and enjoyed playing Canasta especially when teaming with sister-n-law Betty to beat their husbands. LaVerne’s travels took her to many states as well as Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Singapore and many island countries. She would go anywhere and anytime her brother Johnny would say the word. LaVerne went to be with our Lord on February 2nd, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in Rdeath by her father, mother and husband. LaVerne is survived by her children, Doris Angelina Fontenot and husband Randy. Vicky Denise Shandy, Lonnie Calhoun Williamson and wife Sherri; step son Raymond Williamson and wife Linda, brothers Johnny Strange and wife Betty, Ray Strange Sr and wife Susan; sisters Junie Watts & Wanda Hernandez. LaVerne is also survived by 8 grandchildren Chadd Cassell, Erin Hargroder, Kara Dewberry, Kim Kirtland, Darren Jones, Angelica NeQuent, Tiffany Holmes, Dereck Allen, Shon Williamson, Amber Randall and 28 great grandchildren. There was a special love for Memaw and she will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her. LaVerne will be eulogized by Brother Curtis Harrington, previous Pastor for Ebenezer Baptist Church in Jasper, Texas. Pallbearers will be Chadd Cassell, Bryson Derr, Darren Jones, Nick Hargroder, Kirk Holmes and Jeffery Strange.
