Karen Works Long, 50, of Vidor, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Hermann Memorial Hospital - Houston. She was born on January 29, 1970, to Julie Clark Works and Wayne Works, in Ruston, LA. Karen married the love of her life, Royce Long, on February 6, 1993. She was a 1999 graduate of Lamar University, worked as an Administrative Assistant at her families business, and was a homemaker. Karen loved to try new recipes and family time was her priority. Listening to her family sing was her favorite pastime. Karen was a very passionate, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her much joy.

Survivors include her husband of twentyseven years, Royce Long; mother, Julie C. Works; daughter, Julia Hughes and husband Dustin of Silsbee; and step-sons, Lee Bankston and wife Jessica of Georgia; and Benjamin Long and wife Jenee of Georgia; grandchildren, Katherine Hughes, James Hughes, Lane Hughes, Kelsey Hughes, Casen Hughes, Julianna Long, Benjamin Long II, Zachary Bankston and Elizabeth Bankston.

She is preceded in death by her father, Wayne Works; and grandparents, Richard “Dick” Clark and Dorothy Mae Clark.

A celebration of Karen Long’s life will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the Silsbee Texas Fire Department Banquet Room, 490 Payne Street, Silsbee, Texas. Please join us in remembering an amazing woman.
