Gussie Fontenot, 98, of Vidor, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, at Vidor Health and Rehab. A longtime resident of Vidor, Gussie was known for his remarkable life, his quiet strength, and his deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. Born with a spirit of adventure and dedication, Gussie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy at the Pearl Harbor De-Gaussing Station during World War II, an accomplishment he held dear throughout his life. After his military service, he graduated from Port Arthur College, setting the foundation for a fulfilling life filled with both professional and personal pursuits. He is survived by his children: Austin Fontenot of Vidor, TX; Lance Fontenot of Fort Worth, TX; and Jewel Hawkins of Oklahoma. Gussie also leaves behind four grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and a legacy of love, resilience, and a life well-lived.
