Diana Lovelady, 79, of Lake Charles, LA, went to be with the Lord after a 7-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Born in Austin, TX in 1944 to Billy and Monel Morris, she moved to Beaumont, TX around the age of 2, where she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Charles Baer. During her youth, Diana attended South Park Schools. Developing a passion for education, she enrolled in Lamar University, proudly achieving two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Sociology and a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was a child advocate and taught Special Education in the public school system for 35 years before retiring.

Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 64 years, Nemo Lovelady; daughters, Nina Marks and husband, David, Charla Thibodeaux and husband, Mike, Valerie Conerly and husband, Rodney, and Melissa Lovelady; brother, Gerald Kokenes and wife, Judy; 8 grandchildren, Leighton, Joshua, Lacey, Lain, Channah, Hannah, Julia, and Kenny; 15 great-grandchildren, Allie, Logan, Gabe, Rylee, Palmer, Ava, Kambri, Harlee, Mia, Lily, Naomi, Chris, Clarissa, Clayton, and Michelle; nephews, Darrell, Jason, Lexies, and John; niece, Vicky; and a host of extended family, former students, friends, and loved ones.

Preceding Diana in death is her brother, Darrell Morris; stepfather, Charles Baer; and mother, Monel Kokenes.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Pine Forest Baptist Church, 4800 N Main St., Vidor, TX. Diana’s life honoring memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m., also at the church.
