Carol Ann Wrinkle, 85, of Vidor, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas – Beaumont. She was born April 12, 1938, in Port Arthur, to Ollie Gosnell Foster and Willie Myles Foster.

Carol graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1956 and found the love of her life, Jimmy Wrinkle, in a church in Nederland. They both played music together with Carol playing the piano and Jimmy playing the guitar. Their voices harmonized perfectly. Carol attended Lamar University and graduated with a B.S. degree in Voice and became an elementary music teacher. She taught music for over 30 years and taught thousands of children the glorious art of music. She spent most of her teaching career at Pine Forest Elementary in Vidor, Texas. She sang alto in several operas at Lamar.

Carol was one of those people who had the rare gift of perfect pitch which meant that she could hear a note and tell you what the note was. Her professor at Lamar tested her in class because he said that no one had that ability. She proved him wrong!

She and her husband had three children who all shared her love of music. The family formed their own Bluegrass band called Shades of Blue and traveled around the country performing at Bluegrass festivals and Fiddling contests. Their daughter, Jenifer, became a professional musician and toured with such greats as Bill Anderson, Pam Tillis, Martina McBride and Reba McEntire.

Carol was famous for her funny stories and anecdotes and never met a stranger. She adored her family and supported them in everything they did. Carol came from a long line of musicians and singers who used their talents to praise the Lord. Her father, Willie, was the worship leader at Faith Tabernacle in Port Arthur. She loved to read her Bible and never missed an opportunity to witness to others about the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Carol loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them on vacations, making fun crafts, teaching them songs and telling them stories about Jesus. She made their times together unforgettable. She was creative and fun at all times. Even when she would cheat at card games just to make the kids laugh! She lived for her children, grandchildren & great grands.

She and her husband attended Cathedral in the Pines in Beaumont for over 40 years. She volunteered her time playing the piano and the organ and participated in all of the Easter and Christmas Productions at the church.

After retirement, she and Jimmy loved visiting the mountains together, especially Estes Park, Colorado. They took their camper and went to all of the beautiful state and national parks. They enjoyed sitting around the campfire, playing their instruments and drinking coffee. They enjoyed life to the fullest and were a great example of a loving couple to everyone who knew them.

Carol is survived by her husband, James E. (Jimmy) Wrinkle; children, Sheryl Brocato and her husband, Benny, of Kountze; Reggie Wrinkle and his wife, Juanita, of Abilene; Jenifer Thompson and her husband, Scott, of Smyrna, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michael Brocato and his wife, Tara; Samuel Brocato and his wife, Aleena; Rachel Saberon and her husband, Jamesky; Laurel Becerra and her husband, Martin; Dakota Wrinkle and his wife, Cordray; Cameron Wrinkle; Cheyenne Friesen and her husband, Jayson; Maya Thompson; ten greatgrandchildren; and sister, Edith Plumley, of Longview, Texas.
