Sister Betty Lou McDaniel died June 7th, 2023. She was born on June 25th, 1931, to her parents, Arthur and Beulah Petry Faulk, in Crowley, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Catherine, who died in infancy, her brother, John Ferrell, and her husband of over sixty-nine years, Elder H. W. McDaniel.

Sister McDaniel graduated from Crowley High School in 1948, after which she moved to Beaumont, Texas to live with her stepdad’s sister. She began working at W.T. Grant’s department store. The family she was living with attended an Apostolic church, whose Pastor was Brother Gibson. This is where Elder and Sister McDaniel met and on July 1st, 1949, were married.

Thus began a life of service to the Lord and His people. When Elder McDaniel became pastor of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Vidor, Texas on June 25th, 1960, she filled the role of pastor’s wife for the next forty years. She was noted for her work behind the scenes and never desired for attention. Sister McDaniel was a gracious hostess and was known far and wide for the wonderful meals she provided for her guests. Even until her passing her concern for those visiting her was evident in her asking each one if they needed something to drink or asking her family if there was enough food for everyone.

Sister McDaniel was an excellent example of a Godly lady whose heart was committed to service. While she loved her family dearly, her love and concern was extended to those who were in the congregation as well. Proverbs 31:29 states, “Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all”. This is an apt description of Sister McDaniel’s life of service.

Survivors include her children, Cathy Seigrist and her husband, Colen; Carol McDaniel; Windy McDaniel and his wife, Joyce, all of Vidor; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, seven great- greatgrandchildren, with one on the way.

She is known as Granny to this host of grandchildren. She loved her family and served them tirelessly. Many prayers and acts of loving kindness were expressed to them all, as well as countless meals. All the family was welcome to come and eat at “Granny and Pepaw’s.”

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Riceland Hospice for their great care.

Special thanks to Paul and Trudy Connor for their great help and support.
