Harvey effect shows in sales tax allocations to county

The effects of Hurricane Harvey continue to linger in Orange County with the latest sales tax allocations for Orange County lagging behind the state average, likely due to the widespread damge caused by Hurricane Harvey.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $774.9 million in local sales tax allocations for November, 5 percent more than in November 2016. These allocations are based on sales made in September by businesses that report tax monthly, and sales made in July, August and September by quarterly filers.
