Gerald Franklin Durham, a beloved resident of Bridge City, passed away on Friday, June 2nd, 2023 at the age of 75. Although he was a longtime resident of Port Arthur, he had been living in Bridge City for the past seven years. Gerald's vibrant personality and zest for life made him a cherished member of his community.

Gerald had a passion for dancing and could often be found twirling across the dance floor, bringing joy to those around him. He had a love for coffee and enjoyed sipping it while engaging in friendly conversations with friends and strangers alike. Known for his playful nature, Gerald delighted in playing practical jokes and spending hours playing dominoes with his friends.

Flirting came naturally to Gerald, and he had a way of making everyone feel special. He adored spending time with his nieces and nephews, creating treasured memories through play and laughter. Gerald had a unique taste in food, relishing in dishes such as waffles and 'possum stew,' which always brought a smile to his face.

Music was a constant source of joy for Gerald, with classic country tunes, especially those by George Jones and Johnny Cash, holding a special place in his heart. He loved traveling and exploring new places, always eager to immerse himself in different cultures and experiences. Festivals were among his favorite events, where he could celebrate life and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

In his leisure time, Gerald could often be seen engrossed in his favorite mobile games, Bubble Pop and Popeye. He had a habit of affectionately calling everyone 'young lady' or 'young man,' as he genuinely wanted to spread happiness and make others feel valued.

Gerald's life will be celebrated through a visitation on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Bethany Cemetery in Colmesneil, TX at 2:00 PM.

He is survived by his loving companion, Billie Meade of Orange, TX, who was affectionately referred to as his 'sweetie.' Gerald is also survived by his brothers, William Durham and his wife Sandra of Saginaw, TX; Allen Durham and his wife Susan of Vidor, TX; Donnie Durham and his wife Regina of Vidor, TX, and sister Lori 'Laurie' Ann Saenz and her husband Michael of Houston, TX. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Hilda Durham, as well as his sisters Ida Knight and Cindy Durham. His presence will be greatly missed, but his legacy of spreading happiness and bringing joy to others will forever live on in the hearts and memories of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
