Voters accept all Constitutional Amendments

A tiny percentage of Orange County’s registered voters decided to accept all seven proposed Amendments to the Texas State Constitution on Tuesday. The low voter turnout, around three percent in Orange County mirrored the statewide turnout at the polling places, around five percent. At least 2,641 of the county’s 53,119 registered voters or about 3.05% cast their ballot either early or on Election Day in Orange County in the 2017 Constitutional Amendment Election.

Those voters overwhelmingly approved ad valorem tax exemptions for deceased first responders surviving spouses and allowing homestead exemptions for disabled veterans and/or spouses who receive a donated home with voters approving those propositions by 87% and 87.72% respectively.
