Bobby Hester named Vidor ISD’s October Employee of the Month

By Sally Andrews

According to Sally Andrews, VISD Coordinator of Community Relations, she wouldn’t have accomplished nearly as much since Hurricane Harvey if not for the hard work and commitment of VISD warehouse manager Bobby Hester. “Recovery efforts have been overwhelming,” says Andrews. “As I collected school supplies from entities all over the United States, I have had to get them ready to go out to schools and to teachers who have requested certain items. It has been mind-boggling, but Bobby has been my right hand through the entire process. Without him, I would have accomplished very little.” In addition to his normal job duties, Hester has picked up pallets of donated school supplies at WalMart and First Baptist Church, and even drove to Motiva in Port Arthur to get 4000 pair of donated undies for students and their families. “He has even come up on a Saturday to bring me boxes when I was unloading a school bus full of donated supplies. I’ve never heard a groan or a cross word, even when he’s faced with yet another mountain of supplies to deliver to schools. It’s an honor to work with someone of his character, work ethic, and commitment.”
