Melissa 'Mickey' Sue Trinkle, 66, of Vidor, died Saturday, March 4, 2023, at her home. Born in Lone Star, Texas, on March 16, 1956, Mickey was the daughter of Earl Lee and Bobbie Jean (Sanford) Kennon. Mickey enjoyed her time as a Vidor High Brigadette, and after graduating, she pursued teaching. After spending two years at Lumberton ISD, she went on to teach at Vidor ISD for 16 years, spreading her love of education by working at the elementary, middle, junior high, and high school throughout that time. Mickey had a lifelong relationship with Jesus, being saved at 13 years old and was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor. When she was older, she combined her love for Jesus with her passion for teaching and taught 4th grade Sunday School at church. Mickey enjoyed traveling and quilting, but more than anything, she loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and other family members. She was dedicated to her family, helping Garrett to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, and always attending her kids and grandkids events at school, such as marching band events, band concerts, and sporting events when they were younger. Mickey could always be seen cheering on her family from the stands. In the past year, she had really enjoyed contributing to the life of her great nephew, Waylon Kennon. Mickey made a tremendous impact on her family, always striving to push them to excel in education and academics. They will carry those teachings with them as they forever remember the love she had for them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Bobbie Kennon; and her grandparents, Alice and Curtis Sanford. Mickey is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Garry Trinkle; sons, Garrett Foxworth and wife Lindsey, Kevin Trinkle and wife Ellen, and daughter, Karen Trinkle; grandchildren, Nathan Trinkle, Kaylie Trinkle, Jeremy Trinkle, Dylan Foxworth, Jayden Foxworth, and Gavyn Foxworth; and brothers, Robert Kennon, Ronald Kennon, and Rusty Kennon. A private celebration of Mickey's life will be held by her family at a later date.
