Vidor ISD Names Carol Woods Employee of the Month

The Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Jay Killgo recognized Vidor Junior High’s Carol Woods as April Employee of the Month for Vidor ISD. Woods will retire at the end of the school year. She is the math department head at VJHS, and teaches 7th grade math, having thirty years experience. Woods is seen as a teacher who can explain a math concept to students and incorporate a test-taking strategy at the same time, all seamlessly. She has high expectations for her students, and she is committed to leadership in the math learning community. “Woods is always one of the first to pitch in and help others on our campus. She will appear to help with bus duty, cafeteria duty, or early dismissal crowds with a smile and an encouraging word. Further,” said her nominators, “she bakes cakes and cookies. It is a reason to smile when a ‘Carol cake’ appears when it’s most needed --- on testing days! Just like you can count on cake on testing day, you can count on Carol to be there for her students and her VJHS faculty.”
