A total of more than three-and-a-half acres worth of distressed properties located in the City of Vidor that have been seized for delinquent taxes will be auctioned off at an online Sheriff’s Auction next week on Tuesday. Altogether, Sheriff Lane Mooney will be auctioning off ten properties that are located within the city limit of Vidor, Texas. These properties are located in various sections of the city including one in the 100 block of Sargent; another in the 400 block of Opal Lane; a property located at 450 Tacoma St.; one in the 700 block of Kent; nearly two-thirds of a acre in the 700 block of East Railroad, a property located in the 700 block of Butler Road; another located in the 800 block of Davis Loop; nearly half-an-acre in the 1100 block of Orange St.; a property in the 1200 block of Pine Street and a property located at 1810 Dogwood.

According to Steve Bird, an attorney with the law firm of Linebarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson L.L.P. of San Antonio, the law firm contracted by Orange County to collect delinquent property taxes, the minimum opening bid prices for these properties are from $2,706 to $24,410 depending on the adjudged value of the property.

A reliable source said that these ten properties located in the City of Vidor were likely either abandoned or otherwise distressed properties whose property taxes have been delinquent for some time and had been targeted by the City of Vidor Pride and Progress Program for possible cleanup.

According to Attorney Steve Bird, these properties have met the required statutory criteria for seizure and sale. “These properties are vacant, abandoned and distressed properties that have back taxes. We felt like the seizure process was appropriate and will be offering them for sale. Hopefully some neighbors or investors will see them for the opportunity that they are.”

Mr. Bird said that the online auction format allows those interested potential bidders to see each of the properties, research the location and history of the property and set up an account so that they can actually participate in the auction. He said that all this can be done from the comfort of your home on your computer, laptop, IPad or smart phone and is available 24 hours a day-7 days a week. All you need is an Internet connection.
