Lady Pirate softball goes 5-0 in Anahuac tournament

The varsity Vidor Lady Pirate Softball team enters district play this week coming off a five game winning streak at the Anahuac tournament. The Lady Pirates opened play Thursday with a 5-3 win over Anahuac. After a tworun first inning, Vidor added another three in the second to secure the win.

Last Friday was Senior Night for the VHS varsity boys soccer team and they celebrated a 5-0 win over the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks. Coach Austin Powell reported, “We won over Hardin Jefferson 5-0. Zach Simmons scored one goal with one assist. Keegan Day had one goal.

The Vidor Pirates traveled to Beaumont West Brook Tuesday to take on the Bruins in a pre-district baseball tuneup. The Pirates scored one run in the first inning, but never recovered after a West Brook grand slam by G. Ricahrd in the bottom of the inning helped put the Beaumont team up 5-1.

VHS track teams take 1st and 2nd at Silsbee meet

The VHS Lady Pirate and Pirate Track teams placed first and second respectively at the Tiger Relays held last Thursday at Silsbee High School. The boys’ team placed 2nd over all scoring 114.5 points.

The varsity Vidor Pirate baseball team went 2-3 in the Crosby tournament held last week. Opening play Thursday against Port Neches, Pirate bats were silent as the Indians went ahead 1-0 after one inning, adding another 3 runs in the third to emerge 4-0 winners.

After falling behind to West Brook 11-0 Tuesday, the Lady Pirates battled back to win 23-13 in a wild varsity softball game. The Lady Pirates made it 11-2 in the bottom of the 4th before the floodgates opened.
