Police Activity

In recent weeks the Vidor Police Department responded to many calls. What follows are but a few of the incidents that required police action. Readers should remember that any person listed below who was arrested or taken into custody has not been found guilty of any wrongdoing or crime. At a future date, a court, a jury or a judge, may convict or acquit the person who was arrested. A person charged may plead guilty to the charge or choose not to contest the charge. A person listed below may have his or her charge(s) dismissed by a judge or no billed by a grand jury. All persons listed here as arrested are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Luis Hernandez, 25, 7820 Toliver Road, Beaumont, TX was arrested for five outstanding Beaumont Municipal Court arrest warrants on July 7, 2020 at about 7:38 a.m. According to a Vidor Police Department report, Mr. Hernandez was arrested on eastbound I-10 near mile-marker 866 during a police traffic stop for expired vehicle inspection.

Christopher Duane Cartlidge, 41, 7825 Fox Cove, Beaumont, TX was arrested for an outstanding Orange County arrest warrant on July 7, 2020 at about 8:30 a.m. According to a Vidor Police Department report, Mr. Cartlidge was arrested in the 1200 block of N. Main during a police action to serve an active arrest warrant.

Trent Anthony Puente, 23, 535 E. Railroad, Vidor was arrested for assault-family violence on July 8, 2020 at about 10:00 p.m. According to a Vidor Police Department report, Mr. Puente was arrested in the back yard of his residence during a police response to a report of an assault in progress.

Melvin Loran Gilbert, 48, 10950 Beaumont Highway, Houston, TX was arrested for an outstanding Texas Department of Criminal Justice Parole Division arrest warrant on July 9, 2020 at about 7:14 p.m. According to a Vidor Police Department report, Mr. Gilbert was arrested in the 1000 block of N. Main Street during a police response to a call about a suspicious person.

Laura Alice Nix, 61, 1065 St. Charles St., Vidor was arrested for assault-family violence on July 11, 2020 at about 2:20 a.m. According to a Vidor Police Department report, Ms. Nix was arrested in the 1000 block of St. Charles Street during a police response to a call about an assault.

Tommy Lee Beauchamp, 30, 245 W. Courtland, Vidor was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on July 12, 2020 at about 1:10 p.m. According to a Vidor Police Department report, Mr. Beauchamp was arrested in the 1000 block of Concord where Mr. Beauchamp had allegedly driven the stolen car into a ditch.

Thomas Wayne Smith, 44, 1075 W. Circuit, Vidor was arrested for injury to the elderly and evading arrest or detention on July 13, 2020 at about 9:05 p.m. According to a Vidor Police Department report, Mr. Smith was arrested in the 1000 block of W. Circuit during a police action to check on the welfare of a resident there.
