Mrs. Spell's advanced culinary class created a scrumptious Christmas lunch for the teachers and staff at VHS. The students are learning how to set up a food line, set out the sides, and how to serve the customers in a safe manner.

DPS Announces Temporary Waiver for DL/ID Expirations Ending in April 2021

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) today announced that the waiver on expiration dates for driver licenses (DLs) and identification cards (IDs) ends on April 14, 2021. Customers who need to renew are urged to make an appointment today.

COVID sidelines VHS Boys’ Basketball program

A positive COVID-19 test from a player and coach has sidelined the entire VHS Boys’ Basketball program just as district games are to begin. The positive results came after last Tuesday’s away game at Barbers Hill.

Emergency resuscitation kits aid in rescue of five-year-old in Starr County

Thanks to funding provided by state lawmakers during the last legislative session, 500 Texas Game Wardens and Texas State Park Police Officers across Texas have been trained and equipped with emergency first aid and oxygen kits to help them respond to drownings and other emergencies.

Pirates fall to Buccaneers

The Vidor Pirate varsity basketball team fell to the East Chambers Buccaneers 64-51 Saturday at home. The Pirates came out strong early, matching the Bucs basket for basket in the first quarter which ended 14-14.

Lady Pirates fall to the Lady Titans

Playing Friday night at home, both the junior varsity and varsity Lady Pirate basketball teams were outscored by the Memorial Lady Titans. The junior varsity game was a nail biter with the outcome in doubt until the final seconds, but the Lady Pirates were outscored 28-27 for the loss.

Vidor junior Kai Reed is likely the first VHS Cross-Country runner to qualify to compete in the State Track Meet that brings together the best high school runners in Texas to compete against one another and themselves.

Saturday’s early game at Pirate Gym featured to Pirate junior varsity hosting the East Chambers Buccaneers Taking a 25-24 lead in at halftime, the Bucs made their move in the third outscoring the Pirates 15-8 to lead 39-33 after three quarters.

Vidor FFA Booster Club Hosted Livestock Show

The Vidor FFA Booster Club hosted a cattle show in November at the T2 Arena and Event Center in Orange Texas. Several Vidor FFA students showed both steers and heifers.

Lady Pirates win at home 51-21 over Kelly

It was never close as the Lady Pirates clobbered the Kelly Lady Dawgs 51-21 at Pirate Gym Tuesday night. The Lady Pirates first quarter onslaught saw them pile on the points to lead 20-3 after one quarter.
