Both the VJHS Boys and Girls Cross Country teams were crowned District 22 4A Champions Saturday at Claiborne Park. The boys won their second consecutive district championship. Top finishers for for boys were Kaden Richard 5th, Shay Stacy 6th, Landon Jones 7th, Cade Safer 8th, and Noah Rains 11th.

Lady Pirates remain in playoff hunt

In spite of consecutive losses to start the second half of the varsity volleyball season, the Vidor Lady Pirates remain a playoff contender. Playing the district leading Lady Cardinals of Bridge City Tuesday, the Lady Pirates fell in four with scores of 20-25, 25-23, 17-25 and15-25.

Bee Careful! A swarm of bees attacked a rancher utilizing an open top bulldozer to clear brush from his property when he inadvertently ran over their hive. Unable to be removed from his vehicle, a ranch hand covered him in blankets and called emergency services for assistance.

Unbeaten Pirates travel to Splendora Friday

The 4-0 Vidor Pirates will put their unbeaten record on the line Friday as they travel to Splendora to face the 4-1 Wildcats. Splendora’s offense is averaging 41 points per game, scoring 205 in five games, while giving up 75, for an average of 15 per game.

Lady Pirates in 3rd place halfway through district play

The Lady Pirate varsity volleyball team are in third place in district halfway through district play and are just one game back from district leader Bridge City and a half game behind 2nd place Orangefield. The second round of district play begins Tuesday night with a home match versus Bridge City.

Homecoming '21

Homecoming is Friday, October 22, 2021. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and kickoff follows at 7 p.m. The Athletic Department will sell a few reserve tickets on Monday, October 18th from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the stadium visitor's ticket booth. Reserved ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students.

Pirates remain undefeated with last minute score

The Vidor Pirates defeated the Jasper Bulldogs 8-7 at home Friday in a defensive battle that remained scoreless until the final minutes of the game. Penalties and turnovers played an outsized role in the game as several drives by both teams were killed by self-inflicted mistakes in the red zone.

Lady Pirates now 4-1 with wins over LCM, Jasper

The varsity Lady Pirates volleyball team are now 4-1 after defeating LCM and Jasper last week. The Lady Pirates swept LCM with the Freshmen team winning it two, 25-15, 25-14, the JV won in three, 25-13, 17-25, 25-15 and varsity went the distance to win in 5 sets, 18-25, 27-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-13.
