AUSTIN —Texas quail hunting season opens Oct. 28, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) surveys indicate an increased number of bobwhite and scaled quail in the field thanks to a combination of cooler temperatures and spring rainfall during the start of nesting season.

Lady Pirates finish 2nd in district after seeding game

The Vidor Lady Pirate volleyball team finished in second place in district play following Friday’s seeding game at Bridge City. Vidor, Bridge City and Lumberton finished the regular season in a three-way tie.

The Vidor Pirates take the field for the season’s final home game Friday on Senior Night. The Pirates defeated the Huffman Falcons 49-28. The Pirates travel to Splendora Friday for the final regular season game against the Wildcats.
