Freshmen dominate LCM 38-7

The Vidor Pirate Freshman team dominated the LCM Bears for four quarters in a lopsided 38-7 win Thursday at Pirate Stadium. The Pirates wasted little time and scored on their opening drive with Hayden Landry scoring from 30 yards out to put the Pirates on the board.

On Monday, Sept 21, the VJHS Lady Pirates traveled to Silsbee to take on the Silsbee Tigers for their first volleyball game of the season. All four teams made a clean sweep defeating Silsbee. Congratulations to these girls on a great start to the season.

The VPIFA held their home opener this past Saturday on their home fields on South Main. In spite of a great effort, both teams fell to the visitors. Junior Black lost 20-7 to HF and dropped to 1-1 on the season. Junior Black will be back in action this Saturday 9/26 @ Orangefield.

Pirates overcome Blackcats 28-21 on the road

The Vidor Pirates are now 2-0 after defeating the Bay City Blackcats 28-21 in Bay City Friday. After winning the coin toss, the Pirates elected to defer to the second half and kicked to the Blackcats.

A work team from Disaster AID USA visited the Monday, September 21 meeting of the Vidor Rotary Club. The team included Rotarians Wayne Beaumier and Mark Matthews, as well as prospective Rotarians Peggy and Michael Riggs.

“We made a lot of mistakes,” Vidor Head Football Coach Jeff Mathews told his players in the post game onfield huddle, but in the end, so did the Brazosport Exporters, and it opened the door for the Pirate’s 26-20 overtime win.
