Mathews named Coach of the Year

The 2021 10-4A D1 Coaches All-District selections have been announced with Vidor Head Coach Jeff Mathews being named Coach of the Year by his peers. An even dozen Vidor Pirates join Mathews in being selected to the elite squad.

Pirates hone their skills at HJ Marathon Tournament

While the junior varsity and Freshman Pirate basketball teams hosted the Pirate Classic, varsity participated in the Hardin-Jefferson Marathon Classic, playing in the morning, coming back to Vidor to help with the Classic, and heading back to the Marathon for an evening game.

Lady Dogs win two of three in Vidor Tuesday

The Vidor Lady Pirate hoopsters hosted the Lady Dogs of Nederland Tuesday in Pirate gym for a non-district tune up before district play begins in Orangefield Friday.

Pirates host annual Pirate Classic

The Vidor Pirate varsity basketball team took a short Thanksgiving break and are now in the midst of tournament play sharpening their skills for district action, which kicks off Friday, December 17 at Bridge City. Just before Thanksgiving, the Pirates traveled to Buna to take on the Cougars.

Varsity falls to Huffman, sub-varsity triumphs

The Lady Pirate basketball teams hosted Huffman Tuesday with the Freshman and junior varsity logging wins while the varsity fell behind early and could not catch up. The Freshman team won a narrow 27 – 24 victory with Madison Perkins leading the Vidor scoring with 12 points.
