Jane "Janie" Ann Taylor

Jane Ann Taylor, known to most as Janie, was born in Vidor, Texas on Monday, June 12, 1954, to her parents Tom and Ollie Sterling. Janie grew up in Vidor with her siblings: Glenda “Sissy”, Priscilla, twin brothers Shorty & Vic, and baby brother Oral. She was raised by her grandmother, Nora Lee Sarver Wilkerson.

As a child and young girl, she loved being outdoors with her brothers and could shoot better than any of them. She also enjoyed playing dominoes and cooking with her family. Janie attended Vidor High School where she met and fell in love with her lifelong love, David Taylor.

Janie and David got married in a simple ceremony on Friday, December 12, 1969. At the time of David’s passing, they had been married for fifty years. Janie was the light of David’s life and he always doted on her. Janie and David spent their life working hard and raising their three children: Lori Howard, Aaron Taylor, and Chelsea LaCombe.

Janie worked many jobs but always within the realm of customer service because that was her gift. She never met a stranger and if you thought you were going to be a stranger to her, she would change that very quickly.

Janie adored her Blue Willow collection. She also had a green thumb and had the most beautiful flowers and plants. Her favorite color was yellow, especially bright yellow lemons! She loved to snack on chunk sharp cheddar cheese and eat a fried catfish dinner. Janie was also known to cook meals large enough to feed an army. She never used a recipe and everything she put on the table was delicious.

Janie enjoyed spending time with her family and had a special bond with her grandchildren, whom she spoiled with delight.

Janie was funny as the day is long, fierce, and a fighter!

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, David, almost a year ago.

She is survived by: her son Aaron Taylor and daughter-in-law Tammy, and their boys AJ, and Zander of Vidor, her daughter Chelsea LaCombe and her son-in-law Darius, and their boys Aiden and Logan, also of Vidor, and her daughter Lori Howard and husband Tommy Howard and her children Cindal and Evan of Brookland, Texas.
