The Vidor Public Library Summer Reading guest Dr. Chad VanDevender delighted the audience on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Vidor High School auditorium. Chad performed several science experiments including a cannonball using aluminum, rust, and steel to demonstrate a chemical reaction.

Most of our spring ornamental flowers have succumbed to summer’s intense heat and elevated humidity! There are a few stragglers remaining, lingering in tucked away areas where a ‘touch of shade’ has provided them recourse from the blistering afternoon sun.

The Vidor Public Library welcomed guest John O’Bryant with his magic show on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. John entertained the children with magic, music, illusion, and hilarious comedy. He also included audience participation with some special magic tricks.

Peace and happiness have many variables.We aren’t happy when we feel we do not have enough and then burdened if we have too much. We fret over not enough money or worry about what we will do if we have too much money. Most of us don’t have the latter problem.

Summer has ‘barely’ arrived, but outdoor temperatures are already soaring! By now many gardeners have reduced the time spent working in the garden (or stopped completely) due to the intense summer heat and humidity.

The Vidor Public Library held Summer Reading on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Vidor High School. Dorci Leissner with Science Heroes presented the program “The Adventure of the Missing Color” with interactive stories inspired by the audience’s favorite colors.
