ICYMI: Texas DPS Commissions 77 New Troopers at Graduation Ceremony

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) commissioned 77 new Texas Highway Patrol Troopers from its A-2020 recruit class during a graduation ceremony held on Friday, July 17. These new Troopers join the ranks of thousands of commissioned DPS officers across the state.

Police Activity

In recent weeks the Vidor Police Department responded to many calls. What follows are but a few of the incidents that required police action. Readers should remember that any person listed below who was arrested or taken into custody has not been found guilty of any wrongdoing or crime.

VISD acquires former Capital One Bank building

The Vidor Independent School District has purchased the former Capital One Bank building to be used as the school district’s administration building for a purchase price of $950,000. According to Vidor I.S.D. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jay Killgo, the Vidor I.S.D.

Vidor to file tentative budget Thursday

Vidor City Council and the public will get a first look at the 2020-2021 tentative budget for the City of Vidor during Thursday’s regular council meeting beginning at 7 p.m. at city hall.

2020 U.S. Census being ignored by more than half of Vidorians

As of last Thursday, July 16, 2020, only 46.2% of City of Vidor residents have completed and returned their 2020 U.S. Census Questionnaire. This compares with 51.1% of all Orange County residents who have completed the 2020 U.S. Census and 57% of all Texans who have completed their 2020 U.S.
