Vidor man manages to escape burning home

The lone occupant of a burning residence escaped through a window just before noon Monday as the blaze sent smoke billowing through neighborhoods near downtown Vidor and shut down travel on the eastbound IH-10 feeder road while firefighters battled the blaze.

A 51-year-old Vidor, Texas, woman has been sentenced to federal prison for maintaining a drug-involved premises in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei today. Michelle Lea Harrington pleaded guilty on Sep. 10, 2020.

The Texas Public Safety Commission (PSC) along with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw presented one Purple Heart and eight Lifesaving Awards to members of the Texas Highway Patrol at the PSC meeting on Thursday, Feb. 11, at the DPS Headquarters in Austin.
