Forest Riggs, a 1975 Vidor High School has authored a book sharing some of his youthful memories and stories of growing up in Vidor and Galveston experiences. In Riggs own words, “my book, GALVESTON Memories and Related Stories, was released by OutSkirts Press on February 24th.

A Shreveport, Louisiana woman has pleaded guilty for her role in an elder fraud scheme in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. Monica Ruiz, 45, pleaded guilty to wire fraud today before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.

Four children and their grandmother were riding in a Polaris UTV when the eight year old driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over, seriously injuring the grandmother. According to a Texas Department of Public Safety press release, the accident was reported at approximately 3:15 p.m.
