Fatality accident closes IH-10 Monday

A 67-year old Louisiana women was killed on IH-10 near the downtown Beaumont exit on IH-10 when the vehicle she was driving collided with the cab of a jackknifed 18-wheeler hanging over the concrete median. The accident occurred about 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Hot-tempered gunman pushed his luck

The surprising thing about the Apr. 7, 1902 death of Barney Riggs was not the violent nature of his demise but that the West Texas gunfighter managed to live so long. There is no telling how many notches Riggs had on his six-gun before moving to Arizona in the early 1880’s.

Vandals strike VPIFA field

Sometime Saturday or Sunday, vandals struck the VPIFA football field on South Main street. Apparently the culprits rode ATV’s on to the property from South Main St. and rode onto the field, doing donuts and rutting up the grass field. "We need some help,” said board member Jesse Santana.
