Vidor ISD receives $254,000 CTE training grant

Governor Greg Abbott recently announced four career training grants totaling $794,546 have been awarded to four schools in Southeast Texas to train students for high-demand, good-paying jobs after graduation.

ESD#1 conducting annual hydrant flushing and maintenance

The Orange County Emergency Services District #1 is currently conducting its annual hydrant flushing and maintenance which could result in a temporary discoloration of tap water, “We do check the operation of hydrants annually,” said OCESD#1 Fire Chief Robert L. Smith.

Allen sentenced to 50 years for sexual assault of a child

John David Allen III, 47, was sentenced to 50 years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault of a child. The Beaumont man had been arrested in December 2022 after police found him harboring a missing 14-year-old Vidor teenager at a residence in Beaumont.

Vidor Council appoints Cappen as interim City Manager

Vidor City Council appointed retired Vidor Police Department Captain Aleta Cappen as interim city manager Thursday during their regular meeting.A 1973 Vido High graduate Cappen made history as the department’s first female officer and served the department for 42 years before retiring.
