Texas Rangers bring family justice in 1988 cold case murder

More than 30 years after the crime, the Texas Rangers Unsolved Crimes Investigation Program (UCIP) has helped secure a conviction in the 1988 killing of Patricia Ann Howell Jacobs. On Sept. 20, 2022, Daniel Andrew Mac-Ginnis entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to serve 20 years for her murder.

Voter registration deadline is October 11

Registering to vote in Texas is easy! So long as you are eligible, you will be able to register to vote in your county of residence to make your voice heard in local, state and federal elections. Texas law requires eligible voters to register by the 30th day before Election Day.

Council approves 2022 property tax rate

Vidor City Council approved a property tax rate of 0.067393 per $100 of valuation for 2022-2023 Thursday and most Vidorian’s will be paying more in property taxes with property valuations increasing almost 10 percent compared to last year. The average property valuation increased 6.
