At high noon on Dec. 23, 1927, a man wearing a Santa Claus suit walked into the First National Bank of Cisco. With all eyes on their costumed confederate, three strangers took their assigned places in the lobby.
Behind the phony whiskers was a face well known around the small town.

TPWD to open oyster harvest area in Matagorda Bay

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is opening TX-20 in Matagorda Bay to commercial and recreational oyster harvest beginning at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Based on samples recently collected by TPWD, the area meets criteria for reopening.

DPS Honors More Than a Dozen with Awards at Final PSC Meeting of the Year

The Texas Public Safety Commission (PSC) along with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw presented eight Lifesaving Awards, two Director’s Awards and a Unit Citation at the PSC meeting on Thursday, Dec. 15, at DPS Headquarters in Austin.

Girl Scouts Troop 130458 made a donation to Living Waters Homeless Ministry (LWHM). LWHM is a ministry of the Source of Old Faith Baptist Church. The girls collected food for the homeless. They also voted unanimously to donate their '10% give back' from their Fall Product sales to the ministry.
