A thirsty tale

Shortly after the turn of the last century, Frederick Miller first brewed his famed High Life beer and called it the Champagne of Beers. More than a hundred years later it is still promotionally compared to Champagne, much to the chagrin of the French brewers of their famous bubbly wine.

Lady Pirates advance to bi-district playoffs

The Vidor Lady Pirate softball team will play Hamshire Fannet Thursday in a best-ofthree playoff series after defeating Lumberton 9-4 Monday to claim the third place spot in district. All games will be played at Lamar University.

Early voting underway for trustee and council positions

Early voting got underway Monday in local school board and city council elections at three Orange County locations. Earlier this year, Orange County Commissioners Court proposed voting locations be consolidated to eliminate the numerous precinct polling places scattered throughout Orange County.

Vidor High School and Vidor Junior High School FFA

Vidor High School and Vidor Junior High School FFA had several members compete in the livestock show at the South Texas State Fair. Our members were well-represented throughout the week. Vidor FFA had some of their members make the live auction with their livestock projects.

Three local educational institutions put their minds together to combat teacher shortages by creating a pathway to success for paraprofessionals across our region.
