Red Tide confirmed in multiple regions of Texas coast

Parks and Wildlife Department is working with other agencies to monitor a red tide event along the upper Texas coast and the Lower Laguna Madre. The presence of red tide on the upper coast was confirmed on Sunday, Sept. 3, at a red tide monitoring station near Freeport.

This bird has talent

Not only do Cockatoos fly, at least one of them gets around on its very own scooter. He goes by the name of Chico and the folks at Guinness say he’s the world’s fastest bird on two wheels.

Saturday fire destroys home on Spooner

On the afternoon of September 23, 2023, at approximately 4:26 PM, OCESD#1 was requested for service due to a structure fire. Fire crews arrived on scene in the 2500 Block of Spooner St, to find a single-wide manufactured home with heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the home.
