Vidor FEMA center moves to Expo Center

By George Garza

The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Disaster Recovery Center that has been operating out of the former Vidor Municipal Courtroom in the Vidor Police Station on East Railroad Street has moved its operations to the Orange County Convention and Expo Center at 11475 F.M. 1442 just south of I-10 in the middle of Orange County.

After moving once from the Vidor Tax Office Parking lot to the Vidor Police Station, it appears that the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center may have found a more permanent address at the Expo Center. Orange County Precinct #4 Commissioner Jody Crump said that the FEMA DRC at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center should be fully operational with all support services on Friday, October 6th. He could not say what the hours of operation for the permanent FEMA DRC would be. However, the hours of operation for both of the former FEMA DRC’s were from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays and from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
