Raymond Lee Morace Jr., 73, formerly of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Friday, September 4th, 2020, at his home in Jackson, Georgia.

Raymond was born in Pineville, Louisiana, on December 15, 1946. His parents were Evelyn Gladys Duncan Morace and Raymond Lee Morace Sr. He attended Vidor High School. He started working at the age of twelve selling Grit newspapers, and at thirteen he went to work at Woods Supermarket in Vidor. He worked hard from a young age to be independent and purchase the things that he loved.

He became skilled in carpentry and worked for the Beaumont Carpenters Local for many years. When he moved to Georgia in 1986 he joined the Atlanta Carpenters Local.

Raymond was known for his amazing talent of playing the guitar. His desire to play was inspired at the age of eight. He had multiple influences that developed him into the accomplished musician that he became. His favorite musician was the famous guitarist, Chet Atkins. He was very involved in church as a Sunday School teacher, singer, and musician. He played and sang with several musical groups and took part in many record recordings as well.

In 2012, he was inducted into the Vidor “Star Walk of Fame” for his musical accomplishments.

Raymond was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He had a fun loving personality and a very giving heart. He left his mark on the many lives that he touched. We all will miss him very much.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Evelyn Burgess Morace, and daughter Christy J. Morace from his previous marriage to Wanda Carole Wrinkle Ford.
