Christopher Frederick 2014 Firefighter of Year

by George Garza

It’s a very meaningful award to the recipient because it is awarded based solely on the vote of your peers. During the Orange County Emergency Services District #1 2014 Annual Awards Banquet held this week, Firefighter Christopher Frederick was named as the 2014 Firefighter of the Year. The Firefighter of the Year award symbolizes the lofty goal to which most OCESD#1 firefighters aspire. The Firefighter of the Year is the strongest among the backbone of the fire departments’ firefighters and engineers. He or she is the firefighter that is very well trained and experienced. He or she knows it all and is not afraid to jump in and perform the job whether it’s rolling up hoses after a fire or making that initial entry into a smoke-filled, burning building. A Firefighter of the Year is a self-starter and need little or no supervision. A Firefighter of the Year is someone who provides selfless service to his neighbors.
