9-1-1 switching center to be installed in mid-Orange County

by George Garza

The building has a massively thick roof mounted on steel girders that are designed to withstand the forces of 200 mph plus storm winds. Its walls are built of thick concrete that have only a very few windows and it has double doors that can be covered by steel shutters in an emergency. The building sits on land that is high enough to stay dry in a hurricane storm surge. The facility has its own water supply and two massive electrical generators that can supply power if Entergy Texas is interrupted. In short it’s the perfect place to locate a three-county 9-1-1 switching center.
