Construction, elections and losses marked ’14

The National Weather ServiceThe year of 2014 saw many milestones reached, sad losses, and politics aplenty in Vidor and west Orange County. Here is a review of a very few of the many, many stories presented in The Vidorian Newspapers in 2014. In February of 2014 a horrific and senseless tragedy took the life of sixteen year-old Alexandria “Lexy” Bertrand. Lexy died when a car driven by Kelvin Lee Roy of Beaumont, jumped the KCS railroad tracks at a high rate of speed and crashed through the roof of mini-van in which she was a passenger which was stopped for a red light on Main Street and Old Highway 90. in Lake Charles is warning of possible severe weather developing over the weekend with even a slight chance of a tornado Saturday. According to the NWS, following a cool New Year’s Day, with morning lows ranging from near freezing in east Texas and central Louisiana to around 40 along the I-10 corridor, rain could develop in the afternoon, and highs will range from 45 to 55 F.
