LCM Golf takes 2nd at Warren Tournament

The LCM Boys Golf Team won second place at the Warren Golf Tournament held Tuesday at Country Club of Texas (formerly called Brentwood). The Bears were led by Jack Tindel with an individual second place finish and Blade Broussard with a sixth place finish.

 

Nederland was the tournament winner with a 333 total score.

 

The 4-A District Golf tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday March 26 and 27 at Sunset Grove Country Club.

Lady Pirate powerlifters compete at state meet

Three Lady Pirate powerlifters that qualified for State competition joined 208 of their peers from across Texas to participate at the State Girls Powerlifting Meet in Waco last week. The Lady Pirate team finished 28th of the 77 schools attending.

 

Lifting in the 123 pound weight class, Hayley Kinard placed 4th with an 800 pound total lift.

Pirates sweep Central to kick off district play

The varsity Vidor Pirates swept the Central Jaguars to begin district play with a 2-0 record.

 

The Pirates kicked off the sweep in Beaumont Tuesday with a 14-2 win over the Jaguars. Kelby Odom went the distance on the mound for the Pirates. The Pirates racked up 11 hits in the win and committed 4 errors. Kelby Odom homered in the second and Dylan Van Metre added another in the fourth. Others getting hits include, Braiden Baker (2), Cade Purcell (2), Noah Bunting, Zach Seigrest, Ethan Majors and Taylor Lee.

 

Playing Central at home Wednesday, the Pirates completed their sweep with an 8-1 win over the Jaguars. Vidor’s eight runs came on 7 hits with no errors while the Jaguars got 4 hits for one run with one error.

LCM’s School Record

The LCM Boys Golf team won Third at the Hamshire Fannett golf tournament on Thursday March 8 with a combined score of 327. PNG place First with a team score of 300 and Nederland came in Second with 312. In individual scores, LCM freshman Jack Burke broke the school record with a tournament winning 66.

Second place was Tim Feemster from PNG with a 68 and Third place was Brendon Marley from Nederland with a 70. Jack Tindel of LCM shot a personal best 78. Bear Scores: Jack Burke 66, Jack Tindel 78, Blade Broussard 88, Mason Sterling 95, and Landon Beardon 96.

LCM Regional Powerlifting Results

Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School’s Bear Iron was successful last weekend, with two lifters earning spots in the State Meet. Hunter Angelo placed Second in the 165-weight class and Ethan McKay took First in the 181-weight class. Both will represent LCM in the state meet. Colt LeBleu finished 4th place in the 220-weight class. The state meet will be held in Abilene on March 24.

VISD tennis tournament results released

The Vidor ISD hosted the Spring Break Tennis Tournament Friday. In addition to Vidor, competitors from Bridge City, Orangefield, West Orange-Stark, Little Cypress-Mauriceville and East Chambers participated.

“I think we did good,” said Vidor’s tennis coach Lee Holland. “We had two of four entries in the finals.”

Lady Pirates defeat Memorial 2-0 to secure playoff berth

The varsity Lady Pirate soccer team secured a playoff berth with a 2-0 win over the Port Arthur Memorial Lady Titans Friday night at home. Brooklyn Healy scored one goal and had one assist and Madison Williams scored one goal.

Nederland blanks Lady Pirates 3-0

For 70 minutes neither team could score, but the Lady Bulldogs of Nederland found the goal three times in the final ten minutes to defeat the Lady Pirates 3-0 Tuesday night at Pirate Stadium.

 

With the loss, the Lady Pirates’ record falls to 8-4 in district, currently fourth place. With two losses each, PNG and Nederland are tied for first place and Lumberton is third. Vidor can move up to third place with a win over Lumberton in their final regular season game at Lumberton March 20.
