Congratulations to the 2016 Shetland All Star Team for going undefeated to win the title of 2016 South Zone Golden Triangle Regional Champions! The team will advance to the State tournament held in San Antonio July 13-17. Players include Rylan Chesser, Kolt Holden, Brett Veazey, Bryce Collins, Bryce Walker, Jacob Smith- Jones, Karsen Cudd, Jayden Mills, Tyler Hanks, Beaux West, Greyson Fletcher, and Campton Seymore.

They will advance to the Regional Tournament beginning June 24th in Groves. Participants at Golden Triangle Raceway ready to return to fast lane action

This Friday, June 17, the action should be intense at Golden Triangle Raceway Park. After weeks of rain delays, the weather forecast for Friday looks perfect for racing at the track located on W.Hwy. 90 between Beaumont and China. Battling for the checkered flag honors will be all the regular GTRP classes: Limited Modified, Street Stock, Factory Stock, Jr. Mini Stock, and the NS Late Models.

LU adds Kyle Green as pitching coach

BEAUMONT – Keep it all in the family. That is what Lamar University baseball head coach Will Davis wanted to do when he was searching through candidates to fill his staff, and he did so with two Cardinals who played at some of the most successful in the times program’s history. On Tuesday in his first press conference as head coach, Davis announced that he was going to keep longtime LU hitting coach Scott Hatten on staff and added recruiting coordinator to his title. Thursday, Davis announced that he added former Cardinal and Jim Gilligan disciple Kyle Green as his new pitching coach.

Mooney Boys Jiu Jitsu has promotions

On Monday, June 6, 2016, Marshall “The Machine” Mooney and Lane “The Road Warrior” Mooney held a promotional ceremony at Mooney Boys Jiu Jitsu. Marshall and Lane stated that promotions are only held every six months. During the course of the six month cycle, students are evaluated for promotions to the next level, either by a stripe or a complete color change on their belt.

American Sprint Car Series will be in spotlight this Friday

After weeks of rain delays, Golden Triangle Raceway racers and fans are looking forward to this Friday’s special event featuring the American Sprint Car Series. The ASCS are always in great demand in the Gulf Coast Region as they bring in top drivers for their professionally run shows. In their last appearance at GTRP, Channin Tankersley of Highlands, TX went rim riding into victory lane on the last lap of the race.

Little Cypress-Mauriceville secondary schools have placed 50 LCM anglers (26 teams), in the twoday “South East Texas High School Fishing Championship” on Lake Sam Rayburn on June 18 and 19. Nellie Miller is the coach for this group of bass-catching Bears.
