Magic show coming to Orange April 27

Everyday events trigger flashbacks

It is strange to me how certain verbal or visual images will trigger a thought of something that happened in the past. It happens with all sorts of things that are tucked away far back in the recesses of our brains; things to do with our childhood, relationships, work life, or whatever. Some are very pleasant  ome not so and some have been long forgotten and then called out  of memory. Such it was with me this past Monday.  My three guests and I were sitting anchored with the Power Pole

Golden Triangle Raceway to host IMCA Modifieds, ASCS MINI Sprints Friday

Another exciting evening is planned for this Friday, April 17th at Golden Triangle Raceway Park. IMCA Modifieds (who were rained out last Friday) will be joined by the ASCS Mini Sprints in the oval track spotlight. A fan favorite,the mini sprints are powered by motorcycle motors and seem to fly around the track. Also racing on the same program will be Limited Modifieds, Street Stock, Pure Stock and Jr. Mini Stock. Starting time for the show is 7:45 p.m. Pit gates open at 2:00 and the grandstand opens at 6:00.

Lady Pirate softball remains undefeated

Evelyn Baker used all her softball skills Friday night against Nederland but her dive into home plate to score the winning run kept the Lady Pirates undefeated in District play. Clarissa Hagler, Keeli Milligan and Kalli Edwards all got on base in the bottom of the seventh, trailing Nederland by two runs with singles. Hagler scored and closed the score to 3-2.

IMCA Modifieds to make debut at GTAP

Excitement reigns as IMCA Modifieds wheel into action at Golden Triangle Raceway Park this Friday, April 10th. This will be their debut performance since GTRP became a sanctioned IMCA track. Top notch drivers from across the country are expected. For more information about the cars and drivers on the modified tour go to www.imca.comig Also racing on the same program will be Limited Modifieds, Street Stock, Pure Stock and Jr. Mini Stock. Starting time for the show is 7:45 p.m. Pit gates open at 2:00 and the grandstand opens at 6:00 p.m.

First Financial Bank team wins Kiwanis Golf Tournament

The 15th Annual Kiwanis Golf Tournament was held at the Sunset Grove Country Club on Saturday, March 28, 2015. For the second year in a row, the First Financial Bank team placed first in the tournament. Team members included Curt  eger, Steve Williams,  Dale Dugas, and Jerrod Dugas

Mooney Boys Jiu-Jitsu has promotional ceremony

On Tuesday, March 24, 2015 Mooney Boys Jiu-Jitsu, located at 3200 North Main in Vidor held a promotional ceremony for the members. Head Coach, Marshall “The Machine”Mooney stated that a promotional ceremony  s held about every six months for those individuals who put in the hard work required to move up in rank.

Brothers get good start at karate tournament

Two young men from Vidor made their first tournament appearance at the local Spindletop Open Karate Tourament held Saturday, March 28. Mathew Lupier made a strong showing with honorable mention in sparring against a much larger opponent. With his display of courage and determination in trying to even the pont score, by consistantly attacking the bigger fighter only to come up two points shy, but making his coach, Mr. Manuel, proud of his performance.
