Quick scoring early and Lumberton turnovers helped the Pirates cruise to a 45-22 victory over the Lumberton Raiders Friday and upped the Pirates perfect district record to 4-0. Vidor scored early and often, jumping out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter

Pirates ready to take on Indians at The Reservation

Vidor Head Coach Jeff Mathews says the Pirates are ready to take on the Port Neches-Groves Indians at The Reservation Friday. Good news following the Lumberton game is that everyone is healthy. Mathews said starting fullback Kelby Odom would be back after laying out a couple weeks due to an injury and Haylon Leckelt was good to go after being rested in the second half of the Lumberton game last week.

Pirates down Bulldogs

And the fans went wild! Jubilation reigned in the visitor stands as the Vidor Pirates overcame the scrappy Nederland Bulldogs and a plethora of penalties to defeat the Dogs in Nederland for the first time since 1981. Although the team has come close in the past few years, in those games, a single play spelled defeat for the Pirates.

Varsity loses 3-1 to PA Memorial

Vidor varsity volleyball lost to Port Arthur Memorial Tuesday 3-1. Memorial took the first set but Vidor bounced back to tie it 1-1 in the second set. Although the girls made it close, the PAM tam managed to claw their way back to take the nest two sets.

Pirates overcome costly penalties to take Nederland win

“Unbelieveable”, is how Coach Jeff Mathews described Vidor’s OT win against Nederland Friday. He wasn’t talking about the game, but the officiating. Mathews said early on, it became apparent the calls were tending to be one-sided.

Pirates down Bulldogs 29-28 in overtime play

And the fans went wild! Jubilation reigned in the visitor stands as the Vidor Pirates overcame the scrappy Nederland Bulldogs and a plethora of penalties to defeat the Dogs in Nederland for the first time since 1981.  Although the team has come close in the past few years, in those games, a single play spelled defeat for the Pirates. This  year, the shoe was on the other foot as a gutsy go for broke two point conversion call in overtime  sealed the victory for the Pirates.

Livingston tops Lady Pirates 3-2

The Vidor Lady Pirate volleyball teams traveled to Livingston Tuesday to take on the Lady Lions. The road trip saw Livingston sweep the Lady Pirates 3-3, 2-0 and 2-0. Varsity final was Vidor 2, Livingston 3 with scores of 16-25, 25-19, 18-25, 26-24 and 5-15.
