Racing goes to Sunday for spectacular Labor Day Show at GT Raceway Park

Three sprint car classes will compete along with the limited modifieds, factory stocks and street stocks this Sunday. September 4th at the third annual Brian Boram Labor Day Race hosted by Golden Triangle Raceway Park. The sprint drivers bringing in their own special high speed, open wheel maneuvers to the local track are members of the American Sprint Car Series, the IMCA 305 Sprints, and the Lone Star 600 Mini Sprints.

Eagles thump Pirates 40-

It was a tough night Friday for the Vidor Pirates, with the Barbers Hill Eagles scoring three touchdowns on their first four possessions. BH junior quarterback Cameron Cauthen connected with senior receiver Skylar Langelier for the touchdown and the point after kick made it 0-7 with 10:46 on the clock.

Mustangs top Pirates in final scrimmage

The returning state champion WOS Mustangs outscored the Vidor Pirates 35-19 in a final live scrimmage Thursday. Due to field conditions, the game was moved from Hooks Stadium in West Orange to the artificial turf at The Butch in Beaumont. Even with the wet turf, the game was physical on both sides of the line. Both teams, and the officiating crew, were showing early season mistakes with more than 20 penalty flags thrown in the  contest.

Volleyball sweeps the Lady Tors

All three high school volleyball teams, freshman, junior varsity and varsity, won all their matches against the Sulphur La. Lady Tors Tuesday in Pirate Gym. The freshman team set the tone for the evening with a 25-13 and 25-19 win over the Louisiana team.

Ladies hit the vol-

The Lady Pirates volleyball team has hit the court for the 2016 season. After a quick 3-0 takedown by the Silsbee Tigers on Tuesday August 9, the Pirates headed to Woodville on Thursday for a 2-day tournament hoping to pick up some momentum as they head towards district play. They were shut out again in 2 sets by Hull Daisetta but came out strong against Anahuac and defeated them in both sets. They ended the day with a 2-0 loss to Central Heights.
